Welcome to Room 12! We are an energetic class of 25 students, and we are excited to see what this year holds. Our classroom is designed to be a safe haven where we nurture each child to reach their full potential and deepen their understanding of their identity in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Our mornings start with Devotions and Praise & Worship, centering us before we dive into our learning. This term, our literacy focus integrates Reading and Writing with a study of the Gospel of Mark. In Mathematics, we are using the Scholastic PR1ME book at Level 6, supplemented by daily recap sessions to keep our skills sharp.
We believe in a well-rounded education, so our students will also engage in Topic and Art, exploring both NZ and Global histories for Term 1. We also weave Te Reo Māori naturally throughout our day, and get active with weekly Health and PE sessions.

Mrs. Rebecca Overmeyer is the main Homeroom Teacher for Room 12. Please feel free to get in contact if you have any questions regarding your child.

One group will do Fabric Technology with Mrs. Overmeyer, where they will learn the design thinking process and create a textiles product.
The other group will learn Japanese with Mrs. Mandy Croucher.
What happens in Room 12
Devotions/ Praise & worship
The day starts off with a short discussion around the daily bible verse that will follow with a short prayer and some worship singing that will set the students up for a great day ahead.
Physical Education
Our PE sessions run for one block every Wednesday. The programme is designed to develop physical fitness and movement skills, with a specific focus on endurance and coordination. We also place a strong emphasis on cooperation and interpersonal skills, helping students learn to work effectively as a team and encourage one another in a safe environment.
Library Time
Our class has a scheduled library time every week on Thursdays. This gives students the opportunity to issue new books, research topics of interest, and enjoy a quiet space to read. We encourage every student to always have a book on the go!
Literacy (BSLA Programme)
Maths
In Math, students are methodically progressing through Scholastic PR1ME mathematics books Level 6. This systematic approach allows us to cover complex topics like ratios, percentages, and data analysis in depth. We complement this bookwork with short, daily instructional bursts to reinforce previous learning and ensure retention.
Topic & Arts
Our Topic for Term 1 is Aotearoa and Global Histories. Students will investigate key historical events and people, both from New Zealand and around the world. In Art, we will support this learning by creating visual works that reflect the cultures, stories, and time periods we are studying.
Reading & Writing
Our literacy programme involves a deep dive into the Gospel of Mark, where students analyse text and document key ideas daily. We explore these scriptures through open discussion, writing, and creative imagery
