NOTICES: 

🤺STAFF IN ROOM 11 - 2026

Bryan Theobald - remains the main class teacher. Any questions or concerns should go to him.

Greg Thomas - will be taking Technology Classes every Wednesday afternoon. He is also the release teacher for Mr Theobald on Monday and Wednesday. 

Joseph MacKie - our student teacher in Room 11 until November 20th (end of Week 6). He is on his final practicum, studying a Post-Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching via the University of Waikato. He will initially be observing, and then aiming improving his classroom practice in planning, teaching and assessments over the next few weeks, with the help of Mr. Theobald and Mr. Thomas.

🧑‍💻TECHNOLOGY CLASSES

For Term Four, Mr. Thomas will be working with Year 8s in Hard Materials. Using the aprons they were making in Term 3, students will design, measure, cut and create useful items made out of wood.

🏃PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Students are required to have full PE gear every day, so having two interchangeable kits is best practice. This includes dark blue or black shorts and a straight blue shirt (cheap from Kmart). Sports shoes are advised for athletics, but not required. For the time being, we have PE on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Watch this space for updates on timetable changes.

🏆SPORTS

Summer Small Ball Team Sports - softball, longball, cricket, ball skills, and volleyball (one large ball with a net).

📚LIBRARY

Students attend the Library each week. This will be rotated in groups during session 4 on Monday. The expectation is that they must take out two suitable books each time. If a student hasn’t finished a book, it may be re-issued. A book bag is required to take out a book, as it protects books from spillages in bags.

Homework Documents 

Homework in Room 11 is designed to build the study habits needed for High School. Please ensure your child completes their work every afternoon.

How you can help: You aren't expected to teach concepts! Instead, please just listen to them recite scripture or check their spelling. Thank you for your support!

Homework Breakdown

• Reading: Students should read a chapter book (preferred for Year 8).

• Memory Work: Scripture and Spelling sheets are provided here. Please continue with the level your child is currently on.

• Recording: Record all work in the Homework Book. Please sign next to the reading log each week.

• Math & Topic: These sheets are handed out on Tuesdays and should be completed each school night.

Reading Review Requirements When submitting a review, please include:

1. Title & Author

2. Summary

3. Favourite sentence/phrase (with a reason why)

4. Recommendation (with a reason, e.g., "It was funny because...")
