Kia ora, and welcome to Ruma Wha-Room 4

Our learning in Room 4 is structured within the New Zealand School Curriculum. Each term we will have a different overarching focus, and we will explore this through our many subject areas.

Room 4's tamariki participate in daily devotions-our devotions are explored through The Foundational Worldview programme and Kids of Integrity character traits. Everyday we spend time in collective prayer, singing and dance worship. Students will explore how they belong to God,  who they are in Christ Jesus,  and how they are an incredibly valuable part of God's plan.

A typical day in Room 4.

In term 1, our school day is organized into four main blocks.

Morning block-Roll, Devotions, and Prime Maths

Middle block- Spelling, Whole Class Reading, Small Group reading

Afternoon Block- Reading/Writing

Last block- Writing continued, Te Reo Māori, Topic, and the Arts

Homework -Homework is issued on Mondays and returned to school on Fridays. Homework is a reflection of what we are learning during class time. Students will be provided with a work book, and I ask if you can please return Homework books on a Friday for pair checking, and teacher support/marking.

Basic facts will be set at students individual assessed levels, and you can access practice links here

and  here-Stage 2/3Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6

Memory Verses are available here, and our Te Reo Māori Kupu Challenge here

Library  -Room 4's library day will be on a Monday, once our Library is up and running. Students must have a book bag to issue and bring their books home.

Health and P.E - Monday is  Room 4's day for Physical Education in Term 4. The Junior school has the expectation that students will bring a  clearly named P.E uniform to change into for healthy habits and ease of movement for their physical education learning. Please send your child's named uniform in a named drawstring or other suitable bag.

On special sports day's students are encouraged to wear their house group's colour as a t-shirt.

Navy t-shirt and shorts, with suitable sports shoes.

Looking forward....

In Room 4 this year, we will have many rich learning experiences for our tamariki. These opportunities will allow our children to grow in confidence and learn to extend their abilities through sport, waiata, art, drama, and whole class performances.

Communication with Whānau

Communication between home and school this year will be through the school's Edge platform. I will try to send regular Classroom News Reports, updating whānau on events and class happenings.  Parents please email me if you have any concerns, and if necessary we can organize a face to face meeting. If you send an email I will endeavour to reply in a timely manner during working hours, but it is likely there will be delay to messages after hours and on the weekend.
